Mom Hack: Crayon Removal

I just discovered a cleaning hack that I need to share with you!

My toddler drew on the wall with crayon today. It felt like a right of passage for me as a mom, this never happened with my first child. Believe it or not, my gut reaction was excitement to see if I any of my natural cleaners would do the trick.

I decided to make a baking soda paste to see if it would work. This was an experiment. I hadn’t looked it up to see whether or not it would work but I know baking soda paste is a powerful cleaner. It worked to clean my very old greasy grill (see on Instagram).

Baking Soda Paste:

To make baking soda paste, you simply mix baking soda a water until you have a paste consistency.

For Crayon Removal:

  1. Put baking soda paste right on the wall where the crayon is.

  2. Wet a microfiber cloth (or other cloth).

  3. And rub the crayon and paste off!

Witness the wonder!!

My mind was blown. I cannot believe how easy this was, it comes off as though its a dry erase board!! To be honest, I’m like - I should let my kids draw on the wall more - it was so easy to remove and it was fun too! If you’d like to see it in action, watch this reel!

Just for fun, I drew on my wall with permanent marker and pen to see if the baking soda paste would work. I had to scrub a little harder with the cloth but it worked!

If the wall is gritty at all from the paste, spray the vinegar cleaning spray on the wall and wipe it down.
